On 11 March 2015, the Local Organization for Support and Solidarity (OLES JAPON) was founded in order to provide emergency support to French citizens or their immediate family members facing situations in Japan that are not covered by the Japanese social security system or other existing coverage systems. Bringing together all existing French non-profit organizations in Japan, as well as the French Consulate, OLES JAPON is funded by individual and corporate members including its founding member organizations, by donations from the discretionary funds owned by senators and MPs representing French citizens residing abroad, as well the French government budget.
